Join the Legacy: Be the Next Josh Billings Race Director!

The Josh Billings Runaground triathalon is seeking a Race Director to continue the tradition of this iconic event. This is a paid part time position.

The Race Director is responsible for initial planning off the event through post event wrap-up meetings. The event normally takes place in mid September with final meetings occurring in October.

The Josh is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to raise money for local charities through Berkshire United Way. The Race Director operates under the leadership of an Executive Committee (a subcommittee of the greater Josh Committee) to whom the Race Director is accountable. The Race Director will work with the Executive Committee and the Josh Committee to establish and coordinate responsibilities to insure a safe and successful event.

Responsibilities include:

• securing and maintaining sponsors,
• recruiting and training volunteers,
• working in collaboration with local law enforcement,
• property owners and permitting authorities to establish a safe race route and post-event party venue,
• securing venues for parking and post-event awards and party,
• overseeing the set-up and the break-down of event structures,
• marketing the event, web management,
• public relations and race entries.
  
  

The ideal candidate will have personal experience with the Josh and prior experience planning and executing races. The candidate should have a passion for and appreciation of the Josh tradition and its positive impact on the Berkshires.
